John Chapman

John joined the company in October and was moved into a supervisor role in November, he has shared his knowledge and commitment to assisting with Network Rail’s Strategic Crime and Intelligence South. John assists our management team with attending meetings, helping with training, and inducting, covering sickness and holidays, completing administration tasks such as log reporting and rostering.

How did you first get involved with Lingwood Security Management?

TUPE transfer from start of NWR South contract.

What was your first impression of Lingwood Security Management?

Apprehensive with changing employer but made easy with reassurance.

What's your first memory of working at Lingwood Security Management?

Turning up at Three Bridges ROC to meet new and existing staff.

What has surprised you most about working at Lingwood Security Management?

How laid back everyone is, as long as the work is done at a good standard.

What do you find most challenging about your work?

Like most things, keeping everyone happy.

What's the best/worst thing to happen since you started working at Lingwood Security Management?

Best – Promotion that allows me to get some life back after 15yrs of night shifts.

Worst – difficulty of recruiting staff to work night shifts.

If you could change one thing about Lingwood Security Management what would it be?

Amount of parking fines we’ve received in the south.

What do you wish other people knew about Lingwood Security Management?

That we are trying our best to achieve results and more than just a security role.

What interesting characters have you worked with at Lingwood Security Management?

A few, but loose lips sink ships.

What do you think will change at Lingwood Security Management over the next five years, or in the industry as a whole?

There will be lots of change to keep up with an ever-changing Industry, hopefully for the better, especially when NWR returns to GBR in the next 2 years.

If you weren't working at Lingwood Security Management, what would you be doing instead, or what would your life be like?

Probably working for Amazon, isn’t that what everyone does?

How would someone describe you?

Amenable, approachable and determined (I hope), the wife says I’m too laid back out of work (the word she uses is perpendicular).

What do you do when you aren't working?

Play Golf, enjoy time with my family but most important is my dogs lol.
