Alan Lingwood Jnr
How did you first get involved with Lingwood Security Management?
It was over 20 years ago!! I can’t even remember yesterday now tbh. Lol. No, my dad asked me if I wanted to be a part of Lingwood Security to make it a family run business that could expand all over the north-west and be one of the market leaders in the security industry. At the time I couldn’t share his vision, as I was young and very in-experienced, I had my dad's guidance, strength and determination for it to be a great success going forward and obviously we are where we are today as a result.
What was your first impression of Lingwood Security Management?
I loved working for Lingwood Security, all the staff were great to work with and helped me as much as they could all the time, making them a part of the family business as much as me.
What's your first memory of working at Lingwood Security Management?
The first memory of working, was on a nightclub door when trouble started and over 20 people got involved throwing punches and glasses over us trying to get the trouble makers out. Although it put me off for life, I carried on for years to come until we stopped doing the nightclub doors. I have very good memories of some brilliant times and meeting some great people and friends along the way.
What has surprised you most about working at Lingwood Security Management?
How far we have come in such a short space of time. It just goes to show you with a great team of people behind you what you can actually achieve if you really want something. The staff we have managed to retain over the years are a credit to Lingwood Security and without their help too we wouldn’t be here today.
What do you find most challenging about your work?
Everyday is challenging as you don’t know what can happen from each day to the next, but over time you have to learn how to deal with the problems and work with what you have to solve them.
What's the best/worst thing to happen since you started working at Lingwood Security Management?
I think the best things that happened to us was gaining our accreditations to start with and then seeing a continual improvement in our company's standards, then to always better ourselves. Also there is nothing better than winning tenders, projects and putting them all into place with the excellent staff we have.
The worse things will have to be if we lost a job, which has not been for along time now, but even with that happening it has helped us look, learn and improve as a company through our mistakes to ensure these things don’t happen again.
If you could change one thing about Lingwood Security Management what would it be?
To have no problems at all!!
What do you wish other people knew about Lingwood Security Management?
I wish people knew how good and experienced the team here are and how hard they all work to try their best to give our clients exactly what they want.
What interesting characters have you worked with at Lingwood Security Management?
I have worked with some brilliant people over the years from all sorts of backgrounds. The most interesting character, has to be the person I visited on site in the early hours of the morning to ensure he was carrying out his duties and to my amazement he was dressed up as a woman!! Obviously he was warned for not having the appropriate PPE on I.E STEEL TOE CAP HIGH HEELS! He did managed to keep his job for a while. Aalso I had to promise our HR department that I would not mention his name to anyone at work, which I kept my word.
What do you think will change at Lingwood Security Management over the next five years, or in the industry as a whole?
I think the industry is always changing so it's about keeping up with the changes or you get left behind. Lingwood Security is always coming up with new ideas, technology & innovations; it’s about targeting and finding the right client at the right time, with a little bit of luck along the way.
If you weren't working at Lingwood Security Management, what would you be doing instead, or what would your life be like?
I’d be on a beach somewhere retired from premier league & international football lol.
I did work in a chicken factory when I left school, also worked in insurance, but I don’t think I'd be doing either now. I chose the right path and never looked back!
How would someone describe you?
Funny (obviously not funny looking). Loves to live life to the full.
What do you do when you aren't working?
Spend a lot of time with Family and friends, going to the gym losing weight then putting it back on as i love eating and having a few beers!
Anything else you want to tell us?
Manchester United will win the Premier League 2018/19...
